Gardener's Notes: Peas are a cool-season crop. Plant seed directly outdoors in early spring in fertile, well-drained soil as soon as can be worked. Sow seeds 1 inch deep and 2 inches apart. Sow every 10-14 days until mid-spring for a continuous supply. Harvest when pods are 4 inches long and flat, before the seeds inside develop. In mild climates, plant in fall and winter.
