Gardener's Notes: Cucumbers are a warm-season crop. Sow directly into rich, well-drained soil in full sun in late spring, once nights reach 55F (13C). Sow 5-6 seeds 1/2 inch deep & 4 inches apart in low hills 2 ft apart. Thin, leaving only the three strongest plants per hill. Water consistently for mild, sweet fruits. Tie vines onto vertical supports for easy picking. Harvest fruits often to keep plants productive by cutting fruits from vines.
