Gardener's Notes: Start seeds indoors 6 weeks before transplanting outdoors after nights are above 50F (10C). Sow directly outdoors in late spring, only when night temperatures are at least 55F (13C). Sow in rich, moist soil. Thin seedlings 8-10" apart. Pinch back stems and flower stalks to encourage branching and leaf production. Harvest individual leaves as needed or pick entire plants when flower stalks appear.
